Kraft, others react to Sowers’ neurologist’s letter

Baltimore City Councilman Jim Kraft has joined those demanding a response from the State’s Attorney’s office for statements made by its spokeswoman, Margaret T. Burns, about Zach and Anna Sowers in the June edition of Exhibit A.

Last week our reporter, Melody Simmons, interviewed the neurologist who treated Zach Sowers about the injuries Sowers suffered in a beating last summer. (Sowers died in March after being in a coma for 10 months.) The doctor said statements Burns made to Simmons in May contained “gross inaccuracies” in downplaying the extent of the injuries.

The neurologist also wrote a letter to Burns that made those points and expressed sympathy for Anna Sowers, Zach’s widow.

Anna Sowers spoke to Simmons last week of her frustration with the state’s attorney’s office, then posted about this on her blog Monday. And on Tuesday, she posted a letter from Kraft calling for Burns to be fired.
