Police say partygoer took their car for a spin

July 30, 2008

When county police told guests at a loud outdoor party in Towson to leave, they didn’t mean for anyone to drive away in a patrol car.

But that’s what they say a 19-year-old Catonsville man did.

“One of the guests jumped into one of the cars that was unlocked and running,” said Cpl. Mike Hill.

The driver, whom police identified as Daniel Dickson, drove about a block with an officer in another car close behind “before slamming on the brakes and jumping out.” The driver disappeared into the brush and circled back to the party, where officers arrested him.

Dickson faces four charges: grand theft, theft of a motor vehicle, malicious destruction of property and being a rogue and vagabond.
