WASHINGTON - Drivers in Virginia and D.C. whose driver’s licenses has their Social Security numbers and who got traffic tickets in Maryland will find those numbers posted on a state Web site.
Maryland makes the information publicly accessible online. Traffic citations are listed in court records.
The driver’s license number is sometimes the same as a person’s Social Security number.
Maryland has never used Social Security numbers when issuing driver’s licenses, but Virginia and the District have in the past.
Maryland’s court records date back decades.
