A 20-year-old Japanese man dressed as Winnie-the-Pooh has been arrested for beating and robbing two slightly older men because he was offended that they were staring at him.

“It seemed like the thing to do at the time,” explained the perpetrator, Masayuki Ishikawa, who was accompanied by two friends dressed as a mouse and a panther when he asked the victims, “What are you staring at?”

“It’s uncommon to see people dressed up like this,” explained a Tokyo Police Department spokesman. The spokesmen said the police were going on the theory that the trio had dressed as they did because they had run out of clean clothes.
