Florida law enforcement officials resorted to using a Taser gun in a tense standoff with a flightless bird named Plop-Plop.
The female emu escaped from a farm and holed up with some horses and goats in a pen. When the authorities arrived, the emu “went kind of crazy,” according to Deputy Randolph Grob.
Grob justified the use of the stun weapon by saying, “We were a little concerned….We had heard stories of these things, because they are such a powerful bird, such a big bird, with big claws and stuff.”
Plop-Plop made a full recovery at a Panama City animal control center and is not expected to face charges in the incident.
