Baltimore’s W.E.B. DuBois High School is one of nine violence-plagued schools in the country to receive millions in federal funding for internships and other programs to improve students’ career prospects.
The Labor Department gave the school $3.6 million this summer. Labor Secretary Elaine Chao said the grant will pay for mentoring programs to prepare students for employment. The funding also creates a paid internship program at Baltimore companies.
