Troopers haul sergeant’s foe to jail over poodles’ pooping

August 27, 2008

A state police sergeant and his wife had a neighbor arrested when she stepped into their Calvert County yard while walking her two dogs. The couple had frequently complained that her miniature poodles walked and sometimes piddled or pooped on their lawn.

State troopers put Linda Johnson in handcuffs and leg shackles for a trip to the Calvert County Detention Center, charging her with trespassing, harassment and disorderly conduct. She was released a few hours later.

“What’s even crazier is the state’s attorney is actually going to prosecute me in court for this,” Johnson said. “They’re sniffing along the grass, walking on the grass, because that’s where the dogs want to walk.”

Johnson says the sergeant’s German shepherd has attacked her son and poodles.
