Vermont Town legalizes feng shui

The town of St. Johnsbury, Vt. has legalized feng shui, along with tarot card reading, fortune telling and the use of “oriental mysteries.”

St. Johnsbury is a community of about 1,900 families on the Passumpsic River. Since 1966, the town has banned clairvoyancy, but it recently repealed that law in a boon to the community’s fortune tellers (who presumably saw this coming).

The ban on feng shui was “ridiculous,” complained psychotherapist Jean O’Neal, who led the charge to repeal the ban. “The way I lay out my office…it wasn’t legal.”

Town Attorney Ed Zuccaro said local government officials could no longer remember why the law was passed in the first place.
