Allen the family

I was driving down to Charlottesville, Va., on Saturday to see the Maryland-Virginia football game (too bad the Terps decided not to make the trip) when I came across a rather unusual sign. A few miles from the Virginia campus was a law office named “Allen Allen Allen & Allen.”
One of my favorite parts of being a legal reporter at The Daily Record is the names of the different law firms. I’ve learned which ones use commas between names and which ones don’t. I’ve learned which ones are LLPs and which ones are LLCs. I’ve learned to love the ampersand.
But I had never seen a firm before with four identical surnames. Thankfully, since the name is impossible to forget (a clever marketing move perhaps?), a search of the Internet today showed Allen, Allen, Allen & Allen P.C. is a nearly 100-year-old personal injury firm with eight locations in Virginia. The firm was founded by George E. Allen, who was followed into practice by three sons. Ten members of the Allen family currently work at the firm.
Interestingly, the firm’s Web site also uses “Allen & Allen” and “The Allen Law Firm” to describe the firm. I would have gone with “Allen Allen Allen Allen Allen Allen Allen Allen Allen & Allen” or simply Allen10.
