Baltimore Police have made six arrests in six killings from 2008 and 2009.

Baltimore’s chief of detectives, John Bevilacqua, says the arrests come during a “rash of homicides.” There were 11 murders in the first 7 days of the new year. One of the six arrests is for a Jan. 6 fatal stabbing between two cousins.

Police Commissioner Frederick Bealefeld says his department is making adequate modifications to its violent crime strategy to address shootings, armed robberies and other violence.

Since Jan. 1, Bealefeld says police confiscated 87 guns and charged 37 people for weapons offenses.
