The family of a Baltimore County boy severely burned when two teenagers poured sulfuric acid on a playground slide have settled a suit with the teens’ families.
An attorney for the family of Payton Potochney says they will receive the maximum payments under the homeowners’ insurance policies of the teenagers’ parents and guardians, but the amount was not disclosed.
An attorney for teenager Kyle Meredith says a settlement had been discussed since the $6 million suit was filed last May. Lawyers for the other teen, Matt Dybala, did not return calls for comment.
The Baltimore County Board of Education is now the lone defendant in the Potochneys’ lawsuit and a lawyer for the board says his client plans to proceed with a jury trial scheduled for October.
