Watching, and being watched

In Maryland, crime keeps us watching and being watched.

This Web site provides SpotCrime, which lists and maps local crimes for the public. Forbes magazine has an Oct. 27 story about its creator, Colin Drane, who, with his staff in Baltimore, works with 90 TV stations across the U.S., Canada and Great Britain to keep maps updated.

Meanwhile, we’re being watched. For instance, we’ll be writing more about speed cameras around the state  as statistics become available.

We’re working on stories about other forms of surveillance, some of which exist elsewhere but aren’t here – at least not yet.
