Rewards double to $5K for dog-fighting tipsters

Maryland’s attorney general and the national Humane Society want you to help them tackle dog fighting the way the federal government sacked NFL quarterback Michael Vick last summer. On the first anniversary of Vick’s indictment on dog-fighting charges, Attorney General Douglas Gansler announced the reward would double for tips used to arrest and convict people involved in dog fighting. Fourth ID theft conspirator gets sentenced to prison

The last of four Baltimore residents in an identity theft ring has been sentenced to 65 months in prison followed by five years of supervised release for conspiracy to commit bank fraud and aggravated identity theft. According to the plea agreement, Derrick Faulcon and his conspirators stole personal information from employers’ customers or patients without their knowledge, including identification and credit information. When county police told guests at a loud outdoor party in Towson to leave, they didn’t mean for anyone to drive away in a patrol car. Bank’s ex-teller charged in $1 million fraud pleads guilty

A former bank teller has pleaded guilty to stealing at least $400,000 from her employer, and the U.S. Attorney’s Office says she took more than $1 million. The amount taken will be determined at Karen L. Baer’s sentencing hearing Oct. 3. According to her plea deal, Baer worked at PNC bank or its predecessors, Westminster Union Bank and Mercantile Bank, from 1998 to October 2007. Md. man admits keeping teen girl as family’s slave

Almost 150 years after the Civil War, slavery still exists in Maryland. In Montgomery County, a man has pleaded guilty to holding a Nigerian teenager as a slave for five years. George Udeozor, 52, formerly of Darnestown, faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison followed by three years of supervised release. When FedEx left 200 pounds of marijuana at the wrong Northeast Baltimore address, police were eager to help correct the mistake — so they could arrest whoever the grass was intended for. Can you spell public nuisance? Easton says it’s t-o-p-l-e-s-s

For the third time in five years, Easton police have ticketed someone for going topless in public. Sean Cephus, 18, was cited June 4 when police say he was spotted without a shirt on South Street near Hanson Street. He was also cited for failing to obey a lawful order to stop for police. An ordinance adopted by this Eastern Shore city in 1974 forbids anyone from going topless in public buildings or on public streets or public sidewalks.
